How to engage employees and help drive enrollment

Together, we can help drive stronger enrollment

Voluntary benefits are only valuable if employees understand them — and when people feel informed and supported, they show up to open enrollment ready to make choices that are right for them. Helping the workforce connect the dots between their coverage options and their real-life needs is one of the most meaningful things you can do. Here's what the data tells us — and how MassMutual's enrollment expertise can help you get there.

The employee confidence gap

Employees see value but often enroll with regret

The majority of working Americans1 (71%) see voluntary benefits as valuable2, yet too many walk away second-guessing their choices. Nearly half regret the decisions they made during open enrollment — and just as many already plan to drop a benefit they enrolled in. Better education is how that changes.

A need for education

Only about half of workers truly understand their benefits

Just 57% of employees feel they understand their insurance benefits very or extremely well — yet those who do are more satisfied with their offerings3. Closing that knowledge gap can translate into higher participation, stronger retention, and a workforce that actually uses the benefits available to them.

multichannel communications

Meeting employees where they are

Employees engage with benefits information in different ways – 43% prefer email, 30% prefer online resources and 24% want printed materials mailed to their home. MassMutual implementation managers bring deep expertise in enrollment education, building communication plans tailored by generation and life stage – and strategizing the most effective ways to support employees throughout the enrollment process. We can also help with re-enrollments.

enrollment technology

Technology that helps bring it all together

Most employees prefer to enroll electronically or online and used electronic enrollment for their most recent open enrollment. MassMutual products are residentially hosted on some of the most popular enrollment solutions in the market. The platforms are built to help guide employees toward more personalized offers and encourage participation. Or we can connect with an employer’s preferred technology – this includes a variety of enrollment, BenAdmin and HR management platforms.
